Candles for the Ears
Ear candling is not a new, alternative health therapy.
The art of ear candling dates back to the ancient civilizations of China, Tibet, Native America, and Egypt. These cultures used ear candles for healing and spiritual purification.
Ear candles are long, hollow tubes made of wrapped muslin, food grade wax, unprocessed beeswax and optionally essential oils. These candles or cones as they are sometimes called have a tapered end which fits easily into the ear opening. The large end of the candle is lit and the smoke creates spirals down through the ear canal. The warmth of the smoke gently softens old ear wax and helps evaporate excess moisture while soothing the nasal and sinus cavities. Ear candles are often used to remove toxins and debris from the ear.
The lighting of the ear candle results in two primary actions. First, a slight under pressure (often referred to as the chimney effect) inside of the Ear Candle along with the vibration of the rising air column gently massages the ear drum, which helps to regulate the ear pressure.
